The Healing Gift of Tongues

GUYS THIS WEEK WAS AMAZING THE LORD ANSWERS PRAYERS the highlight of my week was definitely that I MET A LADY FROM JAPAN. I have been praying that i would be able to meet at least one person from japan and she happened to come to the promise on a day that i was performing and she bowed to the elders when she left the theatre, so elder contreres came right over to me and told me to talk to her. i was SO HAPPY to meet her and she teared up when she told me that she didn't expect that someone could make her feel at home here in nauvoo. she said it's really hard for her because she is the only member in her family and no one knows about the church in Japan so she can't really have experiences with church history or really be engulfed in the church. i told her that's what i love most about the church is that it's true everywhere you go and always feels like home. she told me she has a hard time understanding and connecting to the pioneers and i was able to tell her that ...

I LOVE EVERYTHING

Hello and I am sad to announce that I am already at the halfway point this week... holy cow this week was so amazing!!! I had a lot of really special moments with some children and some youth this week. I also had a really humbling experience-- during Trail of Hope when I went to play violin for one group, i worried about sounding good-- a self-centered thought. when i went to play, my mind went completely blank. i'm usually okay at improvising but this was literally awful. after the group left my companion and i just busted up laughing because it was so bad. i hope that i didn't ruin their TOH experience, hahaha. so the point is i must remember to never make these performances about me and my talents or whatever. the lord gave me these gifts and to use them correctly i should be testifying of him and bringing myself and others closer to him, not for my own selfish gain. i made a lot of other mistakes this week that have super humbled me. i am happy to announce that a side of m...

Faith over Fear

Hello everyone! since i am typing quickly i will forgo proper capitalization and stuff so please forgive me. this week was significant in that i discovered a lot of things about myself and how i can improve my life. in our short show youth of zion i play caroline rollins who along with her sister saved the revelations included in the church's doctrine and covenants from being destroyed by a mob when they were young girls. someone asks caroline in the play "and you weren't afraid?" and she responds "yes we were, but we knew heavenly father would protect us." that struck me deeply this week as i also have studied about nephi following the spirit in the book of mormon, not knowing beforehand what he should do as he obeyed what the lord would have him do. i thought about how i often let fear take control of my life and i often don't do things if i can't plan out what the result will be. i realized that that's the difference between who i was and who ...

The Gospel, the People, and the Prophet.

Hi everyone! I'm uploading videos as I type to the shared album I sent in last week's email, so I hope you can check them out! This week we had the opportunity to go to Carthage Jail, which is where the prophet of the Restoration of the Church, Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum were martyred. I expected to feel sad at the loss of the saints and have a heavy heart with the heavy topic of the martyrdom, but to my surprise as I prayed to understand the saints' hearts I found that I felt only gratitude, hope, and peace. That feeling continued as I performed as Eliza R. Snow in Trail of Hope and sang to the visitors to press on and praise God. I realized that although things must have been very difficult and scary for the saints, I'm sure that they felt so much peace and comfort from the knowledge of the Plan of Salvation and everything that the gospel teaches. I'm sure that as they pressed on, not knowing what would happen to the church after the martyrdom, that they a...
