I LOVE EVERYTHING

Hello and I am sad to announce that I am already at the halfway point this week...

holy cow this week was so amazing!!! I had a lot of really special moments with some children and some youth this week. I also had a really humbling experience-- during Trail of Hope when I went to play violin for one group, i worried about sounding good-- a self-centered thought. when i went to play, my mind went completely blank. i'm usually okay at improvising but this was literally awful. after the group left my companion and i just busted up laughing because it was so bad. i hope that i didn't ruin their TOH experience, hahaha. so the point is i must remember to never make these performances about me and my talents or whatever. the lord gave me these gifts and to use them correctly i should be testifying of him and bringing myself and others closer to him, not for my own selfish gain. i made a lot of other mistakes this week that have super humbled me.

i am happy to announce that a side of me is coming out that has literally not come out since high school probably. i am finally reaching a point with everyone where i am being crazy and full of energy and weird and try to be funny and it's invigorating and so refreshing! I feel like i'm being reunited with my soul.

after a performance of the promise on Thursday, a girl named megan approached me in tears and thanked me for the performance. she said that she's been making a lot of mistakes and has done some things that she shouldn't have done, and because of that she hasn't felt the spirit in a very long time. she thought she was past feeling and would never be able to feel the peace of the gospel again--but she said she felt the spirit during our performance and it felt so good. i testified to her that she is never unworthy of God's love and invited her to pray to feel his love for her. i told her among other things that i know that the atonement is real and that people can change. i'm so grateful that she came and talked to me and bore her soul to me.

when i was growing up, i would get a special feeling whenever i spoke to sister missionaries. several times this week i have had that same feeling while speaking to people, only now it's me that is the sister missionary, and that is so incredible to me! I never thought i could do something like this and here i am! bearing your testimony to others really does strengthen it!

I have a little more time so i'll write a little more. for whatever reason that is beyond me, children seem to really trust me, and shy ones will come up to me but no one else? there have been a couple times that children that were crying because they didn't want to do the children's parade during sunset by the mississippi--but when i would go to them then they would be willing to hold my hand and walk with me? maybe i have a superpower because experiences similar to this one have happened quite often lately? i love children sdglkjhadk;fghasduiogo

also there was an 8 year old that sang "gethsemane" for us after the promise and she was amazing!!!!! i told her that her voice is a sign of god's individual and unique love for her and to never forget that and never let fear stop her from using her talent. that's stuff i've been learning myself.

pss there was a crazy storm and sunset was cancelled but then we did TOH specifically for a youth group that came and there was a thunderstorm and i am terrified of thunderstorms -- but the lord helped me stay calm through the whole thing and then afterward all the fear hit me hahaha. everyone said they were praying for me and i was so touched and felt so special that they remembered that i'm scared of thunderstorms

ps in case i haven't made it clear how happy and comfortable i am here,
